A Message of Solidarity

Dear Friends:

We are outraged by the recent murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. The needless and premature death of any person leaves us deeply saddened and the inequities that have led to these and countless other unjust deaths must be addressed.  CO-CABE’s mission is to advocate for and empower learners and communities through the advancement of equitable asset-based educational policies and programs.  We cannot even begin to address this mission without addressing the larger societal issues that have brought us to our current reality.

I wish I had a cure or a quick solution to these tragic situations.  I do not. I can only offer my commitment to continue to fight for social justice and human rights.  We, at CO-CABE, stand with black communities and all communities of color as we continue our fight for justice and equality, for peace and human rights. We know that we need to do more to build a system that rejects the systemic racism that has brought us to this point in history.

We urge each of you to support each other and to support our Black sisters and brothers in our mutual quest for justice. Black Minds Matter.  Black Lives Matter!

Sincerely,

Jorge García
